Opera – for many, this conjures up images of older people, endless evenings and strange singing. Is this really something for me, you ask yourself? We say: Yes! Because opera moves, surprises and evokes powerful emotions – even without any prior knowledge. All you need is a little courage to try something new.

At the Junge Deutsche Oper, we want to inspire that courage. We show that opera is not an elitist venue for the few, but a living space that you can help shape. Whether you want to listen or take to the stage yourself, whether you come with your class, with friends or on your own – with us, you will find an approach that suits you.

We make opera tangible in performances, workshops and projects. We tell stories, discover sounds, discuss, perform and experiment – together with children, teenagers, young adults, families and educators.

Because we believe that those who dare to experience something new often discover something completely unexpected – about music and theatre, about society and about themselves.
